Multi-award-winning Americana rock band Morganway are ecstatic to unveil their much-anticipated third studio album, “Kill The Silence”, set for release on 31st January 2025. After a string of successful singles throughout 2024, all of which feature on the album, the band continues to gain momentum with their next single, “Feels Like Letting Go,” available on all major streaming platforms this Friday, 23rd August. The single lands just in time for their main stage performances at Towersey and The Long Road festivals, where fans can experience the new tracks live.
“Feels Like Letting Go” is a defiant anthem for shedding negativity and living in the moment. Vocalist SJ Mortimer reflected on the writing and recording process: “This song came together in a whirlwind! The moment Kieran played the riff, I knew it was going to be a blast to write. It’s about letting go of bad vibes, anxiety, stress—basically all of life’s bullshit—and just living in the moment.”
The track captures the band’s dynamic energy, with Mortimer describing it as a cathartic studio experience. “I love how the band’s cheeky spirit came out in this one. I really let loose on the vocals—it was pure therapy for me! After laying down the vocals, I literally collapsed on the floor, saying ‘oh my god’—which also tends to happen live, with Nicky and I ending up on the floor in exhaustion by the end of the song!”
Their third album heralds a new era for Morganway. Recorded live over four intense days at the iconic Foel Studios, nestled in the rugged Welsh valleys, the album captures the raw, electrifying energy the band is renowned for. Kill The Silence blends Americana, Country, Rock & Soul, channeling the spirit of Woodstock while delivering a fresh, contemporary sound that’s sure to resonate with fans old and new.
Guitarist Kieran Morgan reflects on the recording process: “We tracked 15 songs live together in the studio over four days, with probably four bottles of whiskey and almost no sleep. Recording this album was one of the best weeks of my life, and I’m immensely proud of it and the band.”
Lead vocalist SJ Mortimer adds, “This truly feels like a new chapter for us as a band. We poured our souls, blood, sweat, and tears into this album. It’s our most honest and heartfelt work to date, and I’m incredibly proud of it. There’s magic in recording music the ‘old school’ way—plugging in together and playing live, warts and all!”
This album isn’t just a collection of tracks; it’s a statement of intent. Inspired by the “No Music On A Dead Planet” movement, the title track serves as a rallying cry for climate awareness, highlighting the band’s commitment to using their music as a force for change. Throughout the album, Morganway tackles themes that hit close to home for independent musicians—navigating the turbulent music industry and surviving in a social media-dominated world.
Bassist and vocalist Callum Morgan highlights the spontaneous nature of the recording sessions: “Inspired by artists like Bob Dylan and, more recently, Brandi Carlile, we wanted to record as they often do—spontaneously and less rehearsed. When you’re still discovering a song, that’s when the magic happens.”
The band’s journey leading up to this release has been nothing short of monumental. In 2024, they played high-profile festival stages, including Belladrum in Scotland, and toured Germany with Belle and Sebastian. This October, Morganway will join Scarlet Rebels on a nationwide UK tour, bringing their electrifying live show to fans across the country.
Morganway have caught the attention of industry legends, with BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Planet Rock Radio both showcasing their music—a true testament to their cross-genre appeal.
