MASON TAYLOR TOPS COMPETITION BY FIVE POINTS, EARNS SECOND 2026 VICTORY ON PENDLETON WHISKY VELOCITY TOUR

Taylor Climbs to Fifth in the PWVT Standings with Nick Tetz Continuing to Lead at No. 1

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mason Taylor earned his second Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour event victory of the 2026 season at Rupp Arena Saturday night at Cooper Tires PBR Lexington.

 

Taylor (Maypearl, Texas) held the first spot in the draft heading into the Championship Round after riding Still Flyin’ Crazy for 87.40 points Friday night and Son of a Bass for 86.75 on Saturday. Both rides, the highest in each round, totaled a 174.15 aggregate score to elevate him to his first win since December 2025 at Beatbox PBR Tucson.

 

Taylor’s 136 points elevates him to fifth in the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Standings, still led by Nick Tetz (Calgary, Alberta). Elijah Jennings (Marietta, S.C.), Ezekiel Mitchell (Rockdale, Texas), and Macaulie Leather (Calliope, Queensland) bring up the Top five.

 

Kaleb Lewis (Kaufman, Texas) finished as runner up with 169.05 total points on the weekend. Lewis tallied 84.55 points on Son of a Bass Friday before besting Rumble Strips for 84.50 points on Saturday. The finish marked his best of the season after appearing in his second PWVT event this season.

 

Closing out the podium finishers was Cody Hooks (DeRidder, La.) with a score of 166.60 points to add 51 points in the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour standings. Hooks rode Kevin in the opening round for 82.35 points, and he then recorded 84.25 on Weeble Wobble in the next go around.

 

Romario Leite (Brotas, Brazil) finished fourth in Lexington with a score of 164.90 points. He combined with Spectacular for 82.55 points Friday night. In Saturday’s second round, he rose in the standings by besting Red Light for 82.35 more points.

 

Rounding out the Top five finishers was Michael Lane (Tazwell, Va.) after coming in early Thursday for the lead up media. After watching the Kentucky women’s basketball team win Thursday night, Lane put up two rides in Lexington with an opening score of 81.70 points on American Spirit Friday. On Saturday, Lane lasted the full eight on Flatliner for a score of 83.05.

 

The riders tallied 25 qualified rides over the course of the event with six cowboy athletes going 2-for-3 on the weekend.

 

The Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour continues this upcoming weekend in Reno, Nevada on Feb. 20-21 at Reno Events Center.
