FELIPE FURLAN CLAIMS ROUND ONE IN JACKSONVILLE WITH CAPTIVATING RIDE ON ELMO

No. 1 John Crimber adds to UTB Standings lead, now 34 points ahead of No. 2 Dalton Kasel

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — Felipe Furlan fought for a fan-engaging 89.65 points on Elmo Friday night at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville to take home the round win in the second Unleash The Beast (UTB) event in Florida this season.

 

Furlan (Sales Oliveira, Brazil) and Elmo were one of the final rides of the individual round and after a thrilling eight seconds the duo paired for just shy of 90 points to open up Progressive PBR Jacksonville.

 

The No. 35 rider is looking for a big Championship Saturday to move up the standings at the conclusion of the tenth event of the 2026 regular season.

 

Maverick Smith (Cabool, Mo.) captivated the crowd with an 87.50-point ride on Down Payment – the fifth bull Smith attempted on Friday night. Before producing the second-highest score of the round, the resilient 21-year-old cowboy earned four re-ride attempts, including turning down a qualified score on Rank Hank for 79.80 points.

 

Sage Steele Kimzey (Strong City, Okla.) and Wall Street TNT battled it out for the full eight, coming just shy of Smith’s score with 87.40 points in the opening round. Kimzey, No. 4 in the UTB Standings, looks to narrow the 77-point margin with No. 1 Crimber on Championship Saturday.

 

Sitting in ninth in the standings, Marco Rizzo (Quitman, Ga.) had a strong 87.20-point performance on Little Rip in Jacksonville. Not far from home, the young cowboy who leads the 2026 Rookie of the Year Standings by 156 points, looks to capitalize on the home dirt advantage Saturday night.

 

Closing out the Top 5 from Clermont, Australia was world No. 7 Brady Fielder with an 86.90-point outing on Red Reservation for the Texas Rattlers during the Monster Energy Teams Challenge against the Nashville Stampede. Despite Fielder’s ride, the Stampede (2-1) edged the Rattlers (1-2) 167.15-160.25, with rides from Alan de Souza (Tremembe, Brazil – 83.85 on Hay Train) and Kaiden Loud (Kaufman Texas – 83.30 on Real Deal).

 

In the nightcap, the home-state Florida Freedom were also able to pull out a victory over the reigning champion Carolina Cowboys 169.25-158.70. Alex Cerqueira (Iguatemi, Brazil) opened the game up with an 83.55-point outing aboard The Preacher with John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) later closing out the Florida’s portion with 85.70 points on Margin of Error. The Freedom moved to 1-2 in the METC while the Cowboys fell to 0-3.

 

Crimber’s ride put him in eighth place heading into Championship Saturday and helped the 20-year-old cowboy extend his UTB Standings lead to 34 points over Kasel, who bucked off Big Dawg in 3.83 seconds.

 

Championship Saturday begins at 7:45 p.m. ET at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena with the action available on Paramount+.
