Championship Round Comes Down to Two Final Thrilling 90-Point Rides with Kasel Prevailing over Koltin Hevalow
MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Dalton Kasel backed up his win in the 2026 PBR Unleash The Beast season opener in Manchester with another victory on Saturday night at the Busch Light PBR Milwaukee presented by Cooper Tires to inch within two points of Julio Cesar Marques in the PBR Unleash The Beast standings after five elite tour events.
After riding Tijuana Two Step on Friday for 86.90 points and Shy Town for 85.30 in Round 2 on Saturday, Kasel entered the Championship Round with 172.20 points in second behind Koltin Hevalow by three-tenths of a point. With Hevalow picking Smokestack first in the draft, Kasel chose Lights Out, and the bull Sage Kimzey rode to the win in New York City last weekend produced again — this time a monster 92.55-point event-winning trip that brought Kasel his 13th career win.
It was the 43rd 90-point ride for Kasel, who is known as “Mr. 90 Points.”
Hevalow, the final rider of the night, needed 91.3 points to win, and he almost came through, recording 90.15 on UTZ BesTex Smokestack. But it wasn’t enough to lift him over Kasel, and he finished second.
Alex Cerqueira, looking for his first career win, also had a perfect three-ride weekend with 261 points. He and Bex Red Eye matched up for 89.05 points in the championship round, which momentarily put him in the lead before Kasel and Hevalow’s big-time scores closed out the event.
Julio Cesar Marques earned another Top 5 performance, finishing fourth in Milwaukee after earning rides in the first and second rounds. His 83.45-point ride on Wild Card in Round 2 was enough to lift him into the Championship Round.
Lucas Divino finished fifth on the weekend with 169.40 points after knocking down 84.85 points on Body Bagin the second round.
Jess Lockwood, the 2019 World Champion, placed ninth and crossed a monumental career milestone, picking up his 50th career round victory with an energetic, completely-in-command 89.35-point outing on Project X Saturday to take the long round.
In the Championship Round, Magic Potion bucked off Marco Rizzo – his 57th consecutive buck off at the elite level – extending the all-time record.
Magic Touch had the high-marked bull score – dispatching Julio Cesar Marques in the Championship Round for 45.75 points.
PBR’s Unleash The Beast heads down south to Tampa, Florida Jan. 23-24 for PBR Tampa at Benchmark International Arena.
