(Nashville, TN. – April 26, 2024) – Powerhouse country singer/songwriter Jess Kellie Adams is excited to release her brand new single, “Life’s A Dance.” If the song sounds vaguely familiar, it is because it is a remake of the monster chart-topping hit made famous by country superstar, John Michael Montgomery. The song was Montgomery’s 1992 debut release that turned him from an unknown artist into a national star and Adams unapologetically takes this country classic and turns it into something brand new making it her own. Written by Nashville tunesmiths Allen Shamblin and Steve Seskin, “Life’s A Dance” was produced by multi-award-winning, Grammy-nominated artist Dean Sams of country supergroup Lonestar. It is already creating a buzz among industry professionals and music fans alike. It was one of Pop Blitz Magazine’s New Music Friday picks and appears on Center Stage Magazine’s Fresh Indie Country playlist upon release. Listen HERE.

The production of “Life’s A Dance” is beautifully haunting and compelling – simple yet powerful – and perfectly blurs the lines between musical genres. Adams takes listeners on an unexpected and unforgettable 3-minute musical journey going back in time to the familiarity of the popular 90s country sound and skilfully blending it with her modern edge flair. She slows the tempo and adds her sultry, textured bluesy vocals, whimsically soaring melodic riffs, pedal steel guitar, and the finishing touch – the intertwining celestial harmonies. This song will speak to your emotions and leave you inspired, satisfied and wanting more.

I’ve always loved 90’s country.  The storytelling and melodies have a magical way of touching all our emotions. “Life’s A Dance” by John Michael Montgomery hits every button for me emotionally, while giving great LIFE advice about chasing your dreams and not worrying  about having all the answers all the time. I hope my version of this iconic song touches a whole new generation of music lovers while being embraced by the millions of fans who have known and loved this song for decades. In life, we take different steps along the way…Some forward, some backward, but all are a part of the dance. After all, life’s a dance you learn as you go,” adds Adams.

“When I was 14 I was fallin’ fast for a blue-eyed boy in my homeroom class
Tryin’ to find the courage to ask him out was like tryin’ to get oil from a waterspout
What he would have said I can’t say
I never did ask and he moved away
I learned somethin’ as a teenage girl
Sink or swim you gotta give it a whirl

Life’s a dance, life’s a dance, you learn as you go

The longer I live, the more I believe
You do have to give if you wanna receive
There’s a time to listen, a time to talk
And you might have to crawl even after you walk

I’ve had sure things blow up in my face
Seen the long shot win the race
I’ve been knocked down by the slammin’ door
I picked myself up and came back for more

Life’s a dance, life’s a dance, you learn as you go… as you go

Life’s a dance you learn as you go
Sometimes you lead, sometimes you follow
Don’t worry about what you don’t know
Life’s a dance you learn as you go…”

Known for her charismatic charm, infectious smile, brazen lyrics and fierce vocals, Adams is positioning herself for success to follow in the footsteps of her musical “first-name-only” who serve as the foundation of her budding career. It’s Adams’ genuine connection to her real-life stories that reflect who she is as an artist and an individual, which she captures in every one of her original songs. This gift has enabled fans all over and of every age to relate and connect with Adams. Her music is artistic, bold, raw in emotion, and fearless. With every song, she takes listeners on a musical journey – from heartbreak to love, positivity, and independence. Family and community are what Adams values most, and it is reflected in her music. Adams refers to her brand of music as “grit with grace.” These characteristics are extremely important to her – being tenacious and resilient while remaining compassionate and kind.

Raised by a loving single mom and religiously listening to the Grand Ole Opry with her grandfather on their local country station, Adams’ inspiration has always stemmed from country music. She was raised on Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Johnny Cash. Her songwriting began through writing stories, which in time transitioned into song lyrics. Adams’ songwriting draws from her influences – Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Bonnie Raitt and Martina McBride, and her heartfelt storytelling is at the root of everything she does. Country music brought her grandfather much joy, so she began singing to make him smile – and the rest is history. Adams strives to promote the value of family and how memories made with loved ones are what matter most – something she does not take for granted, citing her mother and grandparents as her biggest fans and sources of inspiration in following her musical dreams.

Adams moved to Nashville at age 19 to pursue a degree in Music Business at Belmont University and has never looked back. With a guitar in hand and song in her heart, Adams remains focused on her mission – to spread love, joy, and excitement with her music and her high-energy shows. The Texas-born, Ohio-raised-turned-Music City resident is quickly establishing herself as one of country music’s most promising rising artists.

Adams’ songs have taken her to the stage of countless venues, fairs, and festivals across the United States. Recently, she played Country Concert in Ft. Loramie, OH where she was on the bill with Ashley McBryde, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Neal McCoy, and Niko Moon and opened for Martina McBride at the Clay County Fair in Green Cove Springs, FL. She has also shared the stage with top artists including Billy Ray Cyrus, Craig Morgan, Daryle Singletary, Darryl Worley, Diamond Rio, Ernest, Justin Moore, Jason Michael Carroll, the late Joe Diffie, Josh Thompson, Julianne Hough, John Michael Montgomery, Lonestar, Parmalee, Rodney Atkins, and The Swon Brothers. Adams has been featured on CMT, Taste of Country, The Country Network, Billboard Country, The Heartland Network, Canyon Star TV, and more.
