“PBR Rookie of the Year” and “PBR High Aggregate Awards” will reward
season-long commitment across the PBR ecosystem
FORT WORTH, Texas (June 4, 2026) – PBR (Professional Bull Riders) today announced two new annual season-long bonus programs that will meaningfully increase the annual rider purse beginning with the 2026–2027 competition cycle.
The new bonus structures – the “PBR Rookie of the Year” bonus program and the “PBR High Aggregate Awards” – are part of PBR’s continued investment into athlete earnings, retention, and long-term engagement across events throughout the organization’s global competition ecosystem.
Combined, the two bonus programs will award $820,000 annually to riders, to be distributed to the Top 5 eligible athletes in each category based on season-long aggregate scores across all sanctioned PBR events. Prior to the creation of these bonuses, total PBR rider compensation was in excess of $25 million over the past 12 months (May 2025 – May 2026).

PBR Rookie of the Year Bonus Program
The “PBR Rookie of the Year” bonus program rewards athletes who are building their careers or are newer competitors within the PBR system by awarding the rider with the highest cumulative score over the 12-month period the top award. The top five will be paid by the program. This is a separate award from the PBR Teams Rookie of the Year honor, which pays $50,000.
PBR High Aggregate Awards
The PBR High Aggregate Awards reward veteran bull riders who consistently compete and perform throughout the PBR season, also awarding the top five cumulative scores over a 12-month period.
Each category will award an annual purse of $410,000. Riders are only eligible for one category. Payouts for each category are:
• 1st Place $300,000
• 2nd Place $50,000
• 3rd Place $30,000
• 4th Place $20,000
• 5th Place $10,000
The new bonuses went into effect immediately after the 2026 PBR World Finals concluded on May 17.
