NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 10, 2024) – John Lennon International Songwriting Contest Finalist Bryan Ruby captivates hearts with his latest release, a soul-stirring stripped-down acoustic single titled “If You Would Have Told Me.” Listeners will be swept away by the raw emotion and authentic songwriting of Ruby’s latest release, available on all digital platforms today, May 10. With this track, fans are offered a front-row seat to the heart of one of Nashville’s brightest up-and-coming talents.
This song follows Ruby’s Valentine’s Day single, “Goes Without Saying,” which Bryan recorded after coming home to find his partner had left him. Shocked, confused, and now left to fend for himself, the story of “If You Would Have Told Me” finds Ruby broken down and lost inside of a strip-mall Mexican restaurant, drunk on a Tuesday afternoon. The single revels in the universal human experiences of pain and heartbreak, and how to move forward when the worst has passed.

In this emotionally charged ballad, Nashville’s Bryan Ruby bares his soul, taking listeners on a journey through the depths of a failed relationship. The pained grit of his vocals, combined with the haunting simplicity of the acoustic arrangement, creates an intimate atmosphere. “I think the lyrics speak for themselves. All I can say is, this was written from real life experience,” said Ruby.
“It’s not often you get to write a song that is both gut-wrenching and an expression of love,” added Ruby’s friend and co-writer Daniel Leathersich (2023 American Songwriter Autumn Leaves Contest winner).
Ruby cries out with the heartbreaking chorus:

“The level of vulnerability in this song (and the rest of Bryan’s upcoming EP) is something I haven’t seen from a lot of the men in country music,” said longtime music executive Tara Gore. “I think there’s a real strength in that.”
Bryan’s 2023 debut EP, “Diamonds Are Forever,” chronicled the stories of resilience over five years playing minor league professional baseball. Bryan Ruby is a rising country music artist based in Nashville, Tennessee. As a songwriter, Bryan has over 30 cuts with songs he penned appearing on the Texas Country Top 50 chart and the iTunes Country Top 25 (#16), and songs he has written have been featured on both Huffington Post and People Magazine.
